HotWeb Rentals - ASP Script Features
HotWeb Rentals is a simple to operate, ASP/Access database application that can be used to list property owner's homes for rent. Owners post their home, along with up to 6 images and a comprehensive list of details. The application is best suited to small to medium property rental sites and in particular, to holiday rentals such as Spanish property or Polaris World type property rentals.

- Made with Macromedia Dreamweaver, using a Microsoft Access database.
- CSS styles control most of the site design.
- The header, menus and footer use 'include files' for easy editing of the layout.
- Dynamic pages can be created and edited online, via the administration area.
- Advertising space is controlled by include files and can be used with Google Adsense or other advertising methods such as text ads or banners.
- Automatically generated RSS feed that users and other web sites can use to list the properties on your site.
- The latest 5 properties are shown on the home page.
- Member activation supported (members have to click an activation URL from an email to become active).
- New properties must be approved by the administrator before they show live on the site.
- The site administrator is alerted when a new property is added so they can approve and make active/delete the record.
User Features
- Search by resort, property type and number of bedrooms, or, by property Id number.
- List of resorts in left hand menu.
- Property listings can be ordered by a number of criteria.
- Users can contact the property owner directly, via a contact form on each property page.
- RSS feed that can be read from a standard RSS reader program.
Owner Features
- Owners manage their own properties by joining the site and logging in to their Member Area.
- Many of the various 'utilities' offered by the home, can be selected by checking boxes or selecting options from drop-down fields (so less need to type things out).
- Up to 6 images per property can be uploaded.
- If a main image is not uploaded, a substitute "No Image Present" image placeholder will be automatically displayed.
- No need to re-size images or create separate thumbnail images before uploading, as the script does this for you!
- Several 'rates per time period' can be entered for each property, so people interested in renting out the property will know the fees for various times of the year.
- Ownes can choose to subscribe to your newsletter, in either text only or HTML format.
Admin Features (Sreen-Shots)
- The administrator has final control over all members and all properties.
- Administrator users can activate properties and can also set the expiry date of the properties.
- Checkbox list items offered can be controlled via the admin system.
- The administrator can send newsletters to the owners list (there are two types: text only and HTML).
- Only the admin user can add other admin users.
Setup Notes
Most of the application is already configured to run automatically. There are a few files that need to be edited before you upload (instructions are sent with the source code). You will also need to change the configuration settings via the admin area, once you have uploaded the files.
